The DAP-led Penang Government’s "weak administration" over 10 years will be highlighted by Penang Umno at the party’s general assembly in Kuala Lumpur from Dec 5 to 9.
Penang Umno Liaison Committee chairperson Zainal Abidin Osman said the issue of DAP’s weak administration must be shared with Umno delegates nationwide to serve as a lesson on the experiences of the people of Penang.
“We want to carry the message that a change in government (at federal and state levels) may not necessarily bring good to the people,” he said after launching the Industry Week 4.0 here today.
He also hoped Penang delegates would table the issue so that other states would use what had transpired in the state, as a yardstick.
The 2017 Umno General Assembly will take place at the Putra World Trade Centre.
Zainal Abidin hoped the assembly would be able to inject fresh enthusiasm in all party members to stabilise and strengthen the party machinery to face the 14th general election.
“I hope the UMNO General Assembly will fire up the spirit of the members to work harder to ensure victory in GE14,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the state liaison body had picked three people to represent Penang Umno, namely, Permatang Pauh division chief Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said to debate the keynote address of president Najib Abdul Razak; state Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim to debate on the motion on economy; and Tasek Gelugor Youth chief Nashrol Hisham Abdullah to debate religious issues.
“The three will deliver their speech and bring the voice of the grassroots of Penang Umno divisions with the hope they can fire up the spirit of the other party members in the final preparation in facing GE14,” he added.
