The Rela (People's Volunteer Corps) members who were allegedly assaulted by a “Datuk Seri” on Friday today lodged a report with MACC on a bribery attempt to withdraw the case.
Rela in a statement today said the report was lodged at the MACC office in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Rela, its members Melvin Cheong Mun Khai, 19, Leong Jiun Jie, 21, Lee Weng Poh, 27, and Ho Hoong Keong, 55, gave their statements to MACC on the bribe offered to close and withdraw the police report against the “Datuk Seri.”
They gave their statements in turns from 12.45pm to 3.30pm, said Rela.
In the incident in Kampung Baru Ampang at 6.30am on Friday, the Rela members involved suffered injuries to the head, eyes and abdomen after being allegedly beaten and kicked by the 29-year-old “Datuk Seri.”
The victims claimed that the incident happened because they asked him to move his Toyota Vellfire MPV parked on the edge of the road for obstructing traffic.
The “Datuk Seri” was arrested at about 4pm yesterday after surrendering to Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters, and has been remanded for four days from today.
The man was remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a civil servant from discharging his/her public functions, and Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force on a civil servant with intent to prevent or deter that person from discharging his/her duty.
