Pakatan Harapan may take the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to court over its failure to respond to its application to register itself as a coalition.
Pointing out that the application had been made on July 28, Harapan’s legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo said the coalition has yet to hear from the ROS on the matter.
Harapan, he claimed, also did not receive a response to a letter it wrote to the ROS on Aug 21 asking for a meeting to discuss the application.
“On Oct 25, we sent ROS a notice asking for a response to the application within 14 days of receipt of that letter failing which we would proceed further in the matter,” said Gobind in a statement today.
Newly-promoted ROS director-general Surayati Ibrahim, he added, should respond to Harapan’s letters and give the coalition an update as to the status of the application.
“The ROS should respond to our notice. If not, we may need to consider court proceedings to compel a response instead.”...
