People's Progressive Party (MyPPP) president M Kayveas will hold a special meeting with MIC president Dr S Subramaniam to resolve the issue of candidacy in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary constituency in the coming general election.
Kayveas in a statement today said the meeting would be held in the near future to discuss and find the best solution in the interests of the Barisan Nasional (BN)’s victory.
“My decision is to resolve the matter in the best way and avoid conflicts.
“I am also worried that if this situation persists in the social media, it will cause tension between MyPPP and MIC, thus affecting BN’s reputation,” he said.
He said MyPPP was confident Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is also BN chairman, would make the best decision to nominate the candidate most suitable for the parliamentary seat.
Kayveas previously claimed the Cameron Highlands seat would be returned to MyPPP based on the promise made by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 2000, but Dr Subramaniam said the constituency remained MIC’s seat as announced by Najib earlier.
