KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.
Pastor knew he was 'marked'
A witness in the public hearing on Pastor Raymond Koh's disappearance said the latter once admitted that he was being "marked" after Islamic religious authorities raided a Harapan Komuniti event at a church in 2011.
Koh's wife broke down during the public hearing, held by the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam), when testifying about the death threats received by her husband.
She told the hearing that Koh had specifically instructed volunteers at his charity Harapan Komuniti not to proselytise when doing charity work.
New captain for MAS
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chief operating officer Izham Ismail has been promoted to executive director and group chief executive officer-designate following Peter Bellew's shock exit from the company.
National Union of Flight Attendants Malaysia (Nufam) was not confident with Khazanah Nasional Berhad's plan to resuscitate the airline because the company has lost two CEOs in three years.
Soon after news broke on Izham's appointment, Bellew took to Instagram to express his confidence in the new MAS boss.
Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed Bellew quit due to interference by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in MAS.
Najib said Budget 2018 will bring good news to entrepreneurs and prove that the government was committed to supporting entrepreneurs who want to make it to the global stage.
'MCA can keep theocracy in check'
MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said the Chinese community can stop Umno and PAS from setting the country on the path to a theocracy by backing his party.
There was a minor commotion when people tried to line up for a RM100 cash handout from Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in conjunction with Deepavali.
Tengku Adnan clarified that Umno did not send a representative to the ongoing 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (NCCPC).
Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said DAP leaders are just as guilty when it comes to the selective barring of media organisations from their events.
Other Kinibites
Mahathir believed that ongoing MACC investigation into the alleged abuse of rural development funds in Sabah was aimed at crippling the fledgling Parti Warisan Sabah.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said voting for Harapan was a vote of confidence for Mahathir's "cruelty".
Hadi said PAS was also capable of wooing non-Muslims who disliked DAP.
Looking ahead
Najib will meet BN leaders on election preparation matters at PWTC this morning.
He will then attend a TN50 townhall meeting with Chinese youths in Serdang.
