MCA: Opposition should apologise to cops after arrest of 'bombmaker'

Opposition figures who cast doubt on the credibility of the police over the cancellation of the Better Beer Festival 2017 should apologise now that people who allegedly plotted to bomb the event have been arrested, said MCA publicity chief Chai Kim Sen.

Chai said the police have been vindicated follow the arrest and this proved that the police did the right thing in advising against the holding of the event.

"It was for the sake of protecting lives and property to ensure peace and stability," he said in a statement today.

Chai expressed regret that some opposition members had initially cast doubts on the credibility of the police for wanting the event cancelled.

"These opposition politicians should apologise to the rakyat and the police, as they were politicking merely for the sake of playing politics, rather than safeguarding security," he said.

The police had called for the event, scheduled for Oct 6 at a popular shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, to be cancelled on grounds that it was a target for militants...
