A group which represents the Bugis community in Peninsula Malaysia today held a short protest at Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad's office in Putrajaya today over the alleged slur against their community today.
According to Bernama, the group gathered for about 30 minutes and urged Mahathir to withdraw his remark which alleged he had linked the Bugis community with piracy.
"Police reports will be lodged throughout the country if Mahathir refuses to withdraw his statement and apologise for hurting the feelings of the Bugis community which has long been a part of Malaysian society.
"The racist statement is unacceptable and we will make sure the entire Bugis community does not support Mahathir and his party when the time comes (election time)," said the group's spokesperson...
