PAS is looking to postpone its proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, or Act 355, in the forthcoming Parliament sitting.
PAS Ulama chief Mahfodz Mohamed said his party wants to ensure that there is sufficient support for the proposed amendments to be passed in Parliament.
"Therefore, we need to consider that even if Umno and other Muslim MPs will not support it, then it would be best to postpone it," Mahfodz told journalists after an Islamic lecture in Gombak, Selangor, today.
He believes his party will win "many seats" in the next general election to give it the numbers to push through the proposed amendments...
