A Gerakan leader has questioned if the state government is aware that the proposed 40-storey luxury hotel to be built on prime state land is up for sale.
The 2.6ha project on Peel Avenue courted controversy when it was sold without an open tender to the Island Hospital Group for a medical expansion project early this year.
The land is being leased to Island Hospital for 99 years for a sum of RM156 million.
Penang Gerakan acting youth chief Jason Loo said that state government leaders should not keep Penangites "in the dark over such an important decision"...
