Anwar breaks silence on PKR-PAS talks

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has called on the party to give room to its leaders to determine its stand on PAS.

He conceded that two years ago he had told the party that PKR "need not necessarily sever ties with PAS as long as there were those within PAS willing to continue talks", though he admitted that the situation is more complex today as the Islamic party had refused to join Pakatan Harapan.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali said Anwar's statement had vindicated his push for the party to continue negotiations with PAS.

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said he is unfazed by fake reports that he had been disciplined by the party for speaking out against the PAS talks.
