The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested Penang executive councillor Phee Boon Poh over alleged letters issued by his office.
It is believed that the letters involved an illegal factory in Seberang Perai, which was raided by MACC yesterday.
Phee oversees the environment, welfare and caring society portfolio.
Phee was told that he was under arrest about 3.30pm, after he went to MACC's office in Penang to give a statement on the matter around 2.40pm.
"However, as he was giving his statement, the MACC officers said he is under arrest. He will be brought to court for remand tomorrow morning," Phee's lawyer RSN Rayer told Malaysiakini...
