The creation of women-only seats in legislative bodies is perhaps one way Malaysia can address the gender imbalance in law and policy making.
This was stated during a briefing on Monday that discussed the "Women-only additional seat" (Woas) proposal.
Penang Women's Development Corporation (PWDC) programme manager Selva Vathany Kanapathi Pillai said the proposal has merit because Malaysia is now ranked 106 among 144 countries in World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap index.
