Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin today named three politicians who should retire from politics as they would continue to divide the people if they do not do so.
They are Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.
"I do not mean that when we want the people to unite, they all should support BN, but we do not want a situation like today where politics in the country is filled with animosity, hatred and incite, all created by the three politicians," he told a media conference after opening the Wangsa Maju Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri delegates conference here.
Khairy, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, said Mahathir and Anwar, both former Umno leaders, were seen attempting to divide the Malays to achieve their own vested interests, while Lim, trying to create a rift between the Malays and Chinese.
He said the three leaders should allow the young people in their respective parties to take over.
"Give us (young people) a chance to contest in peace and in a a healthy competition," he added.
Meanwhile, Khairy said Umno leaders should inculcate the 5C culture, namely clean, competent, compassionate, contemporary and competitive' in the party for it to continue to receive the people's support, especially from some Malays who felt they no longer needed Umno.
"They want to see the values, our commitment and efficiency. This is post-modern politics and they may not need anything, but we need them," he added.
