PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has announced that the Islamist party will organise a roundtable discussion on 1MDB, where they will invite DAP’s Kepong MP Dr Tan Seng Giaw.
Tan was the deputy chairperson of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), one of the agencies which had looked into the 1MDB matter.
Other prominent figures who will be invited to the meeting include former 1MDB chairperson Bakke Salleh, former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim and economist, Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Tuan Ibrahim said, as reported by Harakah Daily today.
This comes after Tuan Ibrahim was slammed by Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi for claiming that Malaysia’s refusal to pursue the 1MDB case prompted foreign countries to investigate the financial scandal.
Puad had cited PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement about foreign intervention in Malaysian politics in his criticism of Tuan Ibrahim.
Though Tuan Ibrahim had rebutted Puad’s criticism of him, he had ignored Puad using Hadi’s name to attack him.
Aside from his remarks on foreign intervention, Hadi had also reminded that 1MDB is only one of many unresolved scandals in Malaysian history.
The roundtable meeting is expected to be held on Aug 7.
