A Malaysian pilot has been sentenced to 13 years jail for raping a woman at knifepoint in Perth 21 years ago, the AAP reported.
Alfred Gerard Eravelly, 50, must serve a minimum of 11 years behind bars, the newswire reported.
Eravelly broke into the victim's home by cutting through the flyscreen of the window of the victim's bathroom, tied her up and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
He left DNA traces which led to his arrest, it was reported.
However, Eravelly claimed he was in a consensual relationship and tied the victim up as part of a kinky ritual.
He claimed the relationship turned sour when he tried to blackmail her for cash, by threatening to tell her boyfriend about their trysts.
He also reportedly told police he had a fantasy of breaking into a home and raping a woman but did not enjoy acting it out, Perth Now reported.
The incident happened when he was an aviation student, after which he returned to Malaysia to work for AirAsia, it was reported.
He was rearrested when he arrived in Sydney 20 years after the incident and was convicted after a six-day trial in April.
