The onus is on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to respond to the allegations that he had purportedly transferred RM9.5 million to prominent lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said an opposition MP.

DAP's Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo said while it is up to Shafee to respond to the allegations, Najib is a public figure who should provide the rakyat a clear explanation.

"It is entirely up to Shafee if he wants to respond or not. He should know what best to do in the circumstances.

"I am more inclined to press the prime minister for an answer. He is a public figure and it is best that he makes a clear statement soon," Gobind said when contacted by Malaysiakini yesterday...
