Leaked papers on PM's account under spotlight
Citing leaked investigation papers, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli claimed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak used RM325,188 from state-owned SRC International Sdn Bhd to settle his legal fees for setting aside PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's subpoena against him.
Sallehuddin Saidin, a senior lawyer who had acted for Najib in the case, confirmed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had come knocking on the money paid to him and other law firms for services rendered to the prime minister, but he denied knowledge the money originated from SRC International.
Rafizi said the admission lent credence that the leaked investigation papers, which had a laundry list of transactions to various individuals from Najib's bank accounts, were genuine.
FGV tussle
Felda Gobal Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) chief executive officer Zakaria Arshad was made to go on leave on grounds of violating the corporate governance code.
FGV chairperson Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said an internal investigation would be conducted on Zakaria's handling of millions of ringgit in payments to a company.
Isa also lashed out at the media when asked about the veracity of blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's allegation that Isa had removed Zakaria to cover up his own misconduct.
Zakaria said he had previously attempted to stop hundreds of millions of ringgit in investments, which he described as "ridiculous", but said he was overruled by the FGV board of directors.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it was prepared to investigate allegations of graft in FGV.
Opposition's PM conundrum
