Continuous rain since Thursday has caused 27 villages to be flooded.

Among the affected villages were Kampung Binunuk, Kampung Bali Bata, Kampung Jampangah, Kampung Bakalau, Kampung Lumatai, Kampung Batu 60, Kampung Batu 58, Kampung Cina, Kampung Luagan, Kampung Lawa, Kampung Beringin and Kampung Suasa.

Other villages are Kampung Lago, Kampung Melati, Kampung Mempagar, Kampung Lajau, Kampung Lubak, Kampung Limbawang, Kampung Lupak and Kampung Gadong.

Malaysian Civil Defence Force, Sabah director, Col Muliadi Al-Hamdi Ladin said the water level in Sungai Padas was currently at 9.16 metres, exceeding the danger level of 8.7m.

In a statement in Beaufort today, he said four schools, Sekolah Menengah St Paul; Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lago; SK Suasa and Sekolah Agama Negeri Limbawang; and 12 main routes to the villages were also flooded.

However, no evacuation centres have been opened as the situation was still under control, according to him.
