MCA will not be rash in selecting a potential candidate to contest the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the 14th general election.
Its deputy president Wee Ka Siong said the move would be better than publicising the candidate earlier.
"We will decide on the candidate eventually but there are several constituencies with more than one choice.
"So, we will make the final decision when the time comes, there is no need to hurry, ' he told reporters after officiating at the 26th convocation ceremony of Kolej Universiti Selatan (Southern University College) today.
"MCA is also a realistic party, rather than trumpeting about the seats it wants to win in the elections.
"I am not like the opposition...predicting to win 10, 26 seats or capturing Johor. We will make a realistic assessment first before talking about victory.
"So I will not waste time on such matters. When the time comes, the complete list will be ready with our analysis. But we will ensure it will be a good mix as we in Johor have been traditionally changing our candidates in each general election to allow for rejuvenation by injecting new blood," he said.
He was commenting on preparations by the Johor MCA machinery including the introduction of new faces in the coming general election.
Wee, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said the Johor MCA Liaison Committee held a meeting yesterday to discuss various measures and strategies in facing the 14th general election.
"At the meeting, we had directed that all the operations rooms be opened by June 30.
"This is to organise our preparations and training at all levels and I could see Johor as among the states getting ready for the general election," he said.
