On the second charge, he admitted to providing support on the commission of a terrorist act by using explosives, an action that was also intended to further an ideology and threaten public order in Malaysia.
The accused committed the offences between March 25 to June 30, 2016, at Desa Putra 1-3-24, Persiaran Bayan Indah 3, Bayan Lepas, Penang and was charged under Section 130J (1) (b) of the Penal Code.
Both sections carry life imprisonment or not more than 30 years or a fine, and forfeiture of any property used or intended to be used for committing the offence, upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, the investigation confirmed that on June 27, 2016, the accused did say 'Alhamdulillah' (Thank God) for the attack that was carried out on Movida Night Club in Puchong, Cheras, Selangor.
Earlier, Bukhari, who was unrepresented, told the court that he had repented and regretted his actions and pleaded for the jail sentence on both charges to run concurrently.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Izhanudin Alias pressed for a deterrent punishment to serve as a lesson considering the number of such cases had increased in recent years.
