PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has expressed puzzlement at being criticised by PAS over pop superstar Selena Gomez's concert performance in Shah Alam last year.
On Friday, Shah Alam PAS Youth delegate Aubidullah Fahim Ibrahim told the 63rd PAS muktamar that the PKR-led Selangor govenrment's failure to stop the concert was among the reasons why PAS should sever ties with PKR.
Azmin noted that he had faced sustained attacks at the PAS muktamar, which today also formally endorsed a motion to sever ties with PKR, subject to the approval of the Syura Council.
"I've been attacked quite badly in the last two three days (at the PAS muktamar). It's okay, doesn't matter who attacked me.
"(There were those who were) angry at me for supposedly supporting Selena Gomez. Honestly, I don't really know this Selena Gomez.
"Ask the party (Wan Azizah Wan Ismail), she knows me. I only know nasyid songs (Islamic devotional songs) and listen to tazkirah (religious sermons).
"I don't really know about artistes. So why get angry at me," he was quoted as saying at the Perak PKR Convention in Ipoh, according to Sinar Harian.
