Six people, including a teenager, were detained to facilitate investigations into last night's incident where a motorcyclist fired three shots in the direction of a house belonging to a priest in Georgetown.
The suspects, aged between 14 and 55, were nabbed in Air Itam and Datuk Keramat.
In a statement today, Northeast District police chief SAC Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the suspects were remanded for a week to facilitate investigations.
He said the case was classified as attempted murder.
In the incident at around 9.50pm, the 50-year-old priest at a temple was cleaning the compound of his double-storey terrace house when a motorcyclist shot at him.
However, the shots missed the priest, who ran into the house and called the police.
At the time, the priest's wife and three children were in the house.
Based on police investigations, it is believed the incident may be linked to an individual suspected of siphoning temple collections.
