The police today rejected the notice for the debate between former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz, which is planned for March 25 in Kuala Kangsar.
"After examining and considering the reasons the gathering will be held and taking into account safety, public order, protection of rights and public freedom, Kuala Kangsar district police chief Ahmad Termizi Abd Haq has rejected the application and will follow up with a written decision which will be handed to the applicant today," said acting Perak police chief Hasnan Hassan in a statement today.
The much-anticipated debate between Mahathir and Nazri was slated to be held at Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Kuala Kangsar this Saturday afternoon.
