Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos got an early release today following his arrest for alleged gang robbery.

Jamal, who was last Friday remanded for five days, was released three days into his remand.

Speaking outside the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters, Jamal sarcastically said that he may resign from his political and NGO positions and venture into illegal gambling.

"After this, I will start an illegal gambling business because illegal gambling businesses appear special and have immunity," he said.

Jamal, along with nine others, were arrested last Thursday.

Police are investigating Jamal under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.

This was over his raids on gambling dens in Taman Kosas, Ampang on Dec 29 last year.

During the raids, Jamal's men allegedly mugged customers at the premises.

The investigation followed a police report over the incident.
