Water release through the spillway at the Kenyir Dam in Terengganu is under control, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) said in a statement today.
TNB said the current unusual rainfall in Terengganu had increased the water level of the dam.
“It is normal for water to be released from the dam and TNB is monitoring the situation at all times,” said the utility company.
It said the dam also served as a large reservoir for flood mitigation purposes.
“It also helps reduce the risk of flooding especially in Hulu Terengganu district,” said TNB.
