IGP raps Maria for holding bullet, contaminating evidence
Vijay47: First, inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar has been watching too many cop shows on TV, he imagines that he also shares similar concern and expertise as those crime scene investigation (CSI) personnel.
Second, typical of him, the fault for his failures lies with Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah, never with himself.
She has lodged several reports of threats against her life, accompanied with photos of IS-style beheadings. Have you caught a single one of the people who did it? Pardon, what's that you say? Oh, I see, investigations are still ongoing.
The new philosophy is for bullies and thugs to attack someone, make a police report, and hey presto, the victim gets charged. So Maria handling the bullet prevented you from discovering whodunit?
In the same way as you could not arrest alleged child-kidnapper K Pathmanathan @ Mohd Ridhuan Abdullah despite court orders?
Maria cannot be blamed for holding the bullet, after all, you did not request her not to. Like she did not request a mattress when she was in a cell.
Khalid, shut your mouth, bite the bullet, and just do your job.
Mosquitobrain: Come on, IGP, the sender is not as stupid as to put his fingerprints on the bullet and send it to 'Maria'? When are you going to get serious? You sure can do better than this.
Now who is the sender? Please think.
FellowMalaysian: Mr IGP, thank you for pointing out that the bullet may contain fingerprints which Maria failed to decipher.
As you would likely attest, the enormous mental and physical torment she has endured the past 10 days being confined in a windowless cell was of no mean feat.
Maria has also mentioned yesterday that this was the third bullet she has received since Bersih 5's road-rally started two months ago.
If fingerprints are what you need to identify the culprit, there should be plenty in the first two bullets handed to your men. So please stop making a mockery out of yourself.
As the IGP, you should spend your time and effort diligently seeking out the malefactor as this is a heinous crime and he could have committed the same despicable action thrice against the same victim.
By pouring scorn over Maria's oversight, wouldn't your action be seen by the perpetrator as a pat on the back by the IGP?
Whatsup: Who would threaten a woman who champions clean and fair elections if not those guilty of dirty elections and/or local terrorists who have already openly threatened her and others?
Ferdtan: Mr IGP, do you know why people like Maria are not bothered with what the police can do (or not do) when they handled the bullet; thus ‘destroying’ the evidence of the culprit?
Answer: they couldn’t care less. They know the end result - no real outcome will come out of the police investigation.
They would certainly make a police report out of formality. This is testimony of the trust (or lack of it) Malaysians have in the professionalism of the top police officials, especially cases concerning NGOs that are deemed to be anti-BN government.
Hopeful123: Oh my God. What an IGP we have. Anyway, how many of those crooks who sent bullets by mail have you arrested?
Why? None of them had fingerprints on, is it?
Fair Play: If Maria were fully conversant with investigative procedures, don't we all think she might be an outstanding IGP if given the opportunity?
Chowkit: Since when did the police chide any other Malaysians who may have received a similar threat - a bullet in the mail?
Maria would not have a security team to vet all correspondence, which may include poisonous materials.
Anonymous_40f4: Even if the police know the culprit who sent the bullet to Maria, is there any hope that they will take action?
Have they arrested the culprits who sent the photo of IS terrorist ‘Jihadi John’ holding a knife to Maria’s and Ambiga's throats?
Opah: The police are "studying the information" and are "working on it". But Khalid has already announced that Malaysia is not a baby-selling hub. We all know how this ‘wayang kulit’ ends.
Anonymous #21828131: I can’t believe this. And Jho Low is as free as a bird with so much evidence to nail him, but now you are getting cross over this bullet.
Sometimes I don’t know whether to puke or laugh.
Apa Ini?: Are they still looking for Jho Low's 'fingerprints' on 1MDB before they start making charges and bring him back to face them?
Doc: I will not be surprised that Khalid will arrest Maria for allegedly contaminating the bullet.
RCZ: Indeed, Maria should be arrested for receiving the bullet. That seems to be the trend.
Anonymous 2408551459232350: You are right, RCZ. A few years ago, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and the Sin Chew Daily reporter were arrested for "their own protection".
