Himpunan Merah leader Jamal Md Yunos warned electoral reform group Bersih 2.0 that his band of red-shirted brethren will be there to meet those in the movement's yellow, if they dare to gather illegally this year.
This is irrespective of whatever consequences such an encounter between the two groups would bring.
"Last year we listened to police advice not to come down on the same date, time and place. This time if they are stubborn and defy the cops, we will do the same. We, too, will be stubborn and defy police orders.
"Let us meet, reds and yellows, and we will see who are the champions and who is anak jantan (bravos)," he said, after lodging a police report against Bersih chief Maria Chin at the Dang Wangi Police Station today.
Jamal's statement was met with shouts of "Lawan!" (Fight) and "Hancur Bersih!" (Destroy Bersih) from his assembled supporters.
He said that his red shirts will also stalk the Bersih roadshow planned to be held one month before the Nov 9 rally.
"This time there will know langit itu tinggi atau rendah (the sky is high or low).
"We are not threatening, but we will see what will happen," said Jamal.
Once again his statement was punctuated by shouts of "Hancur bersih!" by his supporters.
"As the date of the rally that they announce is illegal, the roadshows too are illegal.
"If they proceed with the illegal rally, we will fight them to the end, regardless of what will happen."
Though Jamal qualified that should rally organisers were to follow police advice and adhere to the Peaceful Assembly Act, then they would welcome Bersih with open arms, even if they were a million strong.
"If they go against the law, we will meet them with with a rally of our own, with our hundreds of thousands of members from various races.
"We will not hesitate to face them. Whatever is going to happen, will happen, we have prepared ourselves."
He added that Malaysia was a country with laws and Bersih could not simply decide to hold rallies as if everything were owned by their parents.
Asked on today's police report, Jamal explained that it was being lodged on behalf of their allies, Gabungan NGO-NGO Malaysia, which represents hundreds of organisations.
Their report today brings up the issue of sedition, naming Maria "and gang" of trying to incite the rakyat to go to the streets to bring down Malaysia's constitutional democracy, and its rightfully elected prime minister.
Reiterating that his red shirts were ready and willing to face off against Maria's "circus animals", he however believed that the planned rally would ultimately fail, as it would not get support from the rakyat.
Jamal's ended his statement to the cries of "Hidup Merah!" (Long live the reds!) from his supporters.
Bersih have announced that it will hold Bersih 5 in November, with a nationwide roadshow in October, to drum up momentum for the rally.
