Umno and the BN should view seriously and come up with the best strategies to face the possibility of one-on-one fights the coming 14th general election (GE14), Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said today.
Tajuddin, who also deputy agriculture and agro-based industries minister, said there was a possibility of this taking place because the opposition had long dreamed of toppling the government.
But, he said, it was impossible for the opposition parties to form a stable government because each party had its own agenda.
"Umno and BN leaders must make early preparations to counter the propaganda and slander spread by the opposition.
"The people must be told that the policies of the opposition parties, if they succeed in forming the government, will not guarantee the future of the nation and its multi-racial people, and the Malays," Tajuddin told reporters in Teluk Intan.
The Pasir Salak Member of Parliament also said that former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was an Umno leader in the past, was now spreading all kinds of propaganda in his effort to topple Umno and BN.
"As such, I urge all Umno leaders and members to be wary of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) which is trumpeting his propaganda," he said.
He said Umno members and supporters must realise this and take the needed action to ensure what Mahathir planned did not succeed.
Mahathir, who resigned from Umno last year, was behind the formation of Bersatu, which received approval in principle from the Registrar of Societies.
Its pro-tem president is former deputy prime minister and former Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin, who was sacked from Umno earlier this year.
