Hundreds of passengers were forced to walk along the railway track on the Gombak-Putra Heights line after the LRT they were in broke down.

Several passengers took to Twitter to post photographs and videos after they became stranded between the Dato Keramat and Damai stations.

The breakdown occurred at around 10am, after a downpour.

Images on the social media showed a beeline of passengers in a drizzle, walking along the track to the next nearest station.

The passengers had to walk on the emergency walkway on the elevated track.

"LRT walk on Friday morning. Avoid using LRT," said Anwar Rahmat on Twitter.

“Power trip again (on trip) from Setiawangsa to KLCC. LRT stucked in between Dato Keramat and Damai," said another Twitter user Adila Khalidi.

According to Berita Harian Online, the breakdown was the second in as many hours.

The LRT line experienced an earlier service interruption due to the rush hour between 7am and 7.30am.

"We apologise for the service interruption and an investigation is ongoing to identify the source of the electrical disturbance.

"We have yet to establish a link between the rain and the technical problems we faced," it quoted a Prasarana spokesperson as saying.
