The National Monument (Tugu Negara) is a symbol of respect and honour to the soldiers who had sacrificed their lives to defend the integrity, sovereignty and peace of the country.

Tourists and locals are also both familiar with the landmark, since it was first erected 50 years ago on Feb 8, 1966.
