Malay DAP members today said they turned their backs on Umno, and joined the federal opposition party because Umno treated Malays like "meat chicken" (ayam daging).

They said this after Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii said in a forum on Monday said DAP did not respect Malays and would continue to do so if it comes into power.

"Malays under Umno are like meat chicken at a poultry farm, fed animal feed so they will be healthy and fat before taken to the slaughter...," they said in a statement.
