Johor Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar has won the bid for the 'V1' number plate for RM989,780.

This is according to automotive portal paultan.org which said it was the Johor monarch's highest bid for a number plate yet.

The 'V' number plate is a new series for Kuala Lumpur.

Road Transport Department director-general Ismail Ahmad had said subsequent registration numbers under the 'W 1 A' prefix would be discontinued, following the introduction of the V number plate series.

In July, Sultan Ibrahim won the 'F1' registration number for RM836,660.

The 'F' number plate series is meant for vehicles registered in Putrajaya.

Sultan Ibrahim had previously also won the bids for the 'W1N' and 'WWW1' number plates for RM748,000 and RM520,000 respectively.
