A woman was killed when a crane hook fell on the Perodua Kelisa she was driving at Jalan Raja Chulan, Kuala Lumpur today.
The hook fell off the crane tower and fell directly on the windshield of the passing vehicle at 7.18pm, police said.
The 24-year-old died on the spot, Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh said.
"We are investigating the cause of the incident," he said.
The incident is investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code for death by negligence.
According to Bernama, the victim was identified as Chim Khoon Sing, a Penangite. She reportedly suffered serious neck and chest injuries.
A witness, who only wanted to be known as Elizabeth, 34, told Bernama she heard loud bangs before she saw the crane hook fall on a car in front of hers.
"People were running helter-skelter for dear life as the hook fell on the Kelisa. The incident happened very fast," she told the national news agency when approached at the scene.
