The late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat predicted the demise of Pakatan Rakyat because of DAP, according to his son Nik Abduh.
"Father knew Pakatan was getting weaker because DAP opposed PAS' agenda, and refused to compromise and behaved in a rough manner," the Pasir Mas MP told Oriental Daily.
Pakatan Rakyat crumbled last June following differences between PAS and DAP over hudud, four months after Nik Aziz died.
DAP has since re-grouped with PKR and PAS-splinter Amanah to form Pakatan Harapan whereas PAS considers itself a third force opposition group opposed to both Harapan and BN.
According to Nik Abduh, mutual respect between PAS and DAP had died with the passing of his father and DAP chairperson Karpal Singh.
Though the two appeared to be at constant loggerheads in the media, he said his father and Karpal had deep respect for one another.
Karpal died in an accident in 2014.
Meanwhile, Nik Abduh said if DAP wants PAS to be in talks with Harapan, the former had to admit that the Islamist party was not the cause of Pakatan's death.
However, he doesn't think this will happen, as he believed that DAP only looks after its own interests.
Nik Abduh also dismissed claims of a spat between Nik Aziz's 10 children, saying they had a good relationship.
"Only my eldest sister lives in Kuala Lumpur, the rest live in Kelantan, so we get together every week."
