The monkeys who attacked a postman at a military camp in Malacca two days ago, only stole regular mail, and not military secrets, the army said.

"The letters involved were just regular registered posts," the army said in a statement today.

It said the armed forces has its own controlled mail delivery system to protect the security of classified documents.

The Star today reported that long tailed macaques had attacked a postman at Terendak Camp, and grabbed three classified documents before fleeing the scene.

The postman was injured in the incident which occured in seconds, and a police report has been lodged.
