Former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has forgotten that he has Umno to thank for the comforts he enjoys today, Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii says.
This is after Muhyiddin likened Umno to a run-down car that needs to be scrapped.
"Muhyiddin needs to remember that he was a kampung boy, and just how many kampung boys like him enjoyed the fruits of Umno's struggles...
"People like Muhyiddin and (former prime minister) Dr Mahathir Mohamad would not live comfortably and walk on a red carpet had it not been for the positions they held in Umno.
"In fact, the benefits enjoyed by their families also come from Umno's struggles. Seven generations may not be able to spend the riches they made when holding positions in Umno," Razlan (photo) said in a statement.
He also urged Muhyiddin to engage in healthy competition by presenting what his new party stands for and offers, instead of running down Umno.
Muhyiddin, in likening Umno to a broken-down car, said he had been on committees in Umno where he proposed changes to the constitution to improve the party.
However, none of the measures worked, strengthening his belief that there is no fixing Umno.
Muhyiddin was on July 4 sacked from the party for his criticism of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, Umno and 1MDB.
He was fired from the cabinet in 2015.
