YOURSAY | ‘Who carried out violent protests outside DAP's head office, time and again?’

Don't resort to old style of political instigation, DAP warned

Ferdtan: “DAP needs to be told off from its confrontational brand of politics. All Malaysians should demand DAP to be more responsible and tactful in their politicking. Can DAP leaders express their views, no matter how strong, without resorting to such intimidation?”

BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan, look closer into the mirror and what do you see?

Who are the greater offenders of such intimidation - not Umno or the Umno-led red shirts?

They are worse - these red-shirt hooligans are getting out of control in their open racial rantings. And yet no action was taken against them.

FellowMalaysian: It is unfair and feckless for Abdul Rahman to turn around and label the action of Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming's Facebook fan page as being confrontational and provocative when it was the mob of red-shirted hooligans led by Umno Youth leaders who reacted belligerently and without restraint at the DAP headquarters on Tuesday.

As an MP holding a full-time ministerial post, Abdul Rahman's supine stupor over the Umno Youth's sheer and stark display of race and religious hatred and schism showed hypocrisy and prejudices beyond tolerance.

By making such incendiary remarks, it is Abdul Rahman who should be hauled up immediately for questioning over making sensitive claims on race and religion.

Telestai!: What a load of garbage from the BN director of strategic communications. Abdul Rahman, who is playing confrontational politics if not Umno?

Who carried out violent protests outside DAP's head office, time and again? Who burned effigies of opposition leaders? Who dragged decapitated cow’s head in protest against a Hindu temple?

Who performed funeral rites, complete with coffins? Who stomped on pictures of a BN leader who was then Penang chief minister?

So Abdul Rahman, are you saying it is okay to react violently at the slightest provocation or dissatisfaction?

God Save Us: Oh yes, Abdul Rahman, DAP's brand of politics is old-fashioned. That’s why they received donation of a million ringgit in no time from the lay public when requested.

They haven’t learnt the new brand of politics from Umno - receiving billions from a foreign country or allegedly siphoning off billions into personal bank accounts, and still wear a thick hide when caught.

Quigonbond: Abdul Rahman, sure, we can follow Umno's hooliganism and gangsterism. Apparently that's more refined than the eloquent reasoning given by opposition leaders.

Anticonmen: This is nit-picking to find fault on the opposition in order to justify unrest so that the focus on 1MDB is diverted.

Even a Hari Raya greeting which has a US flag on it is deliberately misinterpreted to justify provocation.

Victor Johan: Abdul Rahman, why don't your leaders of BN component parties indulge in the new brand of politics where political forums and debates with opponents are the order of the day?

Merely hiding behind press statements and monologues only shows that you have plenty to hide.

Demi Negara: Abdul Rahman who continues to try to hide the truth of 1MDB from the rakyat is just as accountable as his boss, Najib, the man with RM2.6 billion in his private bank accounts which almost everyone believes came from 1MDB, and both will face the law, either in this life or the next. Disgraceful!

Nil: "Oppositional politics" tends to be confrontational... it has to be, for if not, why be in the opposition?

Please do things right, so that the opposition has no reasons to confront you.

Mara Digital Mall traders not worried as rent-free period ends

TheAnonymous: If you're competing on a level-playing field, by all means you can call yourself a proud entrepreneur. But with crutches thrown at you because you belong to certain ethnic groups, well, you be the judge.

Anonymous #97901717: Good for those who have some fighting spirit. This is an (almost) free economy.

I can't blame the traders for jumping into Mara Digital Mall when they saw a good deal. I hope they can succeed without subsidies, directly or indirectly. All the best to them.

Baramundi: Almost 60 years after the British left, some people are still being fed with milk bottles? Come on, grow up.

Personally, I know many urban bumiputeras are no longer bothered about all these privileges. Of course, education made the difference.

Odysseus: Even if the traders don’t pay rental, I don't think Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaacob or Umno will let Mara Digital Mall close shop.

It will be a too ‘memalukan’ (embarrassing) for them. This is their weapon against the perceived Chinese monopoly in the IT business.

If the traders are smart, perhaps they shouldn't pay rent as they won't be kicked out.
