Multimedia and Communications Minister Salleh Said Keruak today accused whistleblower site Sarawak Report of misleading the public on the auditor-general’s report on 1MDB,
In a blog post, Salleh said the audit findings were only one component which made up the final report on 1MDB, which was done by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“The auditor-general’s report is not the final report on 1MDB. It is just one component of many that make up the PAC report. And this is where Sarawak Report has mischievously misled the public.
“In fact, the auditor-general’s report is not complete because it addresses just one aspect of 1MDB.
“The complete report is the one from the PAC because it not only takes into account the auditor-general’s report but all the other information gathered as well,” Salleh wrote.
The auditor-general’s findings on 1MDB are currently classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
Sarawak Report however claims to have obtained it, and has been leaking excerpts over the past three days.
Malaysiakini cannot independently verify if the documents published by Sarawak Report are authentic, nor can it report on the contents due to legal restrictions.
Meanwhile, Salleh said Sarawak Report was also compromising the integrity of the PAC.
“Sarawak Report is insinuating that there is a cover-up by the PAC and that the PAC members, those from the opposition included, are not being truthful about what they discovered.
“Is Sarawak Report questioning the honesty of the PAC members?” he asked.
Opposition members of the PAC have long asked for the audit report on 1MDB to be declassified and tabled in Parliament.
