Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar says his appointment as urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister is a boost to his spirit, and will make it easier for him to resolve the rakyat's problems.
In a statement following his appointment, Noh also reiterated his vow to recapture Selangor from the opposition.
"Alhamdulillah, today I see that Selangor Umno will continue moving forward... with support and cooperation (of Selangor Umno and BN) I see that Selangor BN can improve (our performance) and, most importantly, my goal is that we must retake Selangor in the 14th general election," Noh said.
He also said he will use his new portfolio to look after urban dwellers and combat urban poverty.
This is Noh's second stint in the cabinet. He was previously agriculture and agro-based industries minister from 2009 until 2013.
His appointment came after he successfully led BN to a thumping victory in the Sungai Besar by-election where the ruling coalition boosted its majority from 399 in 2013 to 6,969.
He is taking over from Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who is now a minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of the economic planning unit (EPU)
During his previous tenure as minister, Noh was implicated in a scandal involving a prawn farm.
In 2012, Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim had told the Selangor state legislative assembly that Noh was engaged in a joint venture with prawn breeder Pristine Agrofood Sdn Bhd, which he claimed was in conflict with his ministerial position.
Pristine Agrofood, however, insisted that Noh was only the landowner of the prawn farm, while the Tanjong Karang MP denied having a stake in the company.
