Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran has warned inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar that he is on the radar of M Indira Gandhi's lawyers to act on the mandamus order compelling the police to search for her ex-husband, odd-job worker Mohd Ridhuan Abdullah.
This warning to the IGP comes almost three weeks after the Federal Court ordered Khalid and his men to arrest Mohd Ridhuan Abdullah @ K Pathmanathan, and have yet to do so.
"As Khalid has warned that he is monitoring social media on alleged wrongdoers, we would like to warn him that he is also on our radar for the police search on Pathmanathan.
"We will be going to the Ipoh High Court soon, following the apex court decision, to get to know the progress of the police," Kulasegaran said.
Court of Appeal President Md Raus Sharif, who wrote the unanimous decision, also ordered the High Court in Ipoh to monitor the warrant of committal against Indira Gandhi's former husband.
Justice Md Raus on April 30 issued an order of mandamus, compelling the IGP to search for Ridhuan.
This came after Ridhuan produced the couple's youngest daughter, Prasana Diksa @ Ummu Habibah, who was taken from Indira Gandhi in 2009, when she was 11 months old, despite being ordered to do so.
'We sign treaties, but do not follow'
Kulasegaran was also asked to comment on the apex court's rejection of the question raised on the rights of women and children, despite Malaysia being a signatory of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women.
The Ipoh Barat MP said this was something that he was not happy with as a federal lawmaker, because the country has signed many international treaties but does not follow them.
“We sign and say we are committed to international obligations, but we do not follow or adhere to what are in the treaties. It seems there is a form of double standard in the implementation of these treaties,” Kulasegaran added.
