There is no need for the government to present the auditor-general's final report on 1MDB to Parliament, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Azalina Othman Said.

She said this was because the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) report on 1MDB had been tabled to Dewan Rakyat.

This implies that the report, which had been classified under Official Secrets Act (OSA) , will remain a secret document.

"The auditor-general's report was discussed in PAC before it concluded its report," she told Azman Ismail (PKR-Kuala Kedah) in a parliamentary written reply.

Azman had asked when the auditor-general's report on 1MDB would be tabled in the House.

In another parliamentary reply, the Umno minister said the auditor-general's report was only meant for PAC.

"The auditor-general's report on 1MDB was classified under the OSA to ensure there was no leak of information throughout the PAC proceedings.

"The auditor-general report was specifically meant for PAC," she stressed.

Azalina was responding to Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz (DAP-Raub) who asked the reason for the report's classification under OSA.

"PAC was referring to the auditor-general's report (throughout the proceedings). Why was the main reference was not given to the parliamentarians?" asked Ariff.

Hasan had claimed that the auditor-general's report would be declassified once PAC's report on 1MDB was tabled to the Parliament.

'Payment made accordingly'

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak insisted that 1MDB had paid US$993 million to Aabar Investment PJS Limited accordingly.

"For the transaction of US$993 million, the management of 1MDB then had made the payment in accordance with the terms that was agreed by both parties," he said in his capacity as the finance minister.

Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) had asked Najib why 1MDB had paid compensation in the form of a refundable deposit of US$993 million to Aabar Investment PJS.

This was despite the settlement agreement for the termination of option which was signed on Sept 30 2014, stated only US$300 million.

"The details related to your question have been given by 1MDB with reference to PAC," said Najib.
