Opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has given her assurance that PKR will learn from its shortcomings in the 11th Sarawak state election to prepare for the next general election.
"I have asked the leadership to identify weaknesses, to learn from our shortcomings and to take necessary steps to correct our strategy and organisational capacity in time for the next big battle: GE14.
"This is what I can offer and promise as we need to heal the party and be better prepared for the next battle for justice," she said in a statement today, after her Hospital Kuala Lumpur visit to her husband and jailed de facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar was rushed to the hospital last night as a result of high blood pressure.
Wan Azizah added that she understood the opposition's struggle during the Sarawak election, from "lack of resources to acts of intimidation", and that she believes they have done their very best.
"I pray that we will be given the strength to overcome the naysayers and those who try to belittle our efforts to bring reform to Sarawak.
"I believe that we can, and will, overcome," she said.
Boosted by Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem's popularity, BN won a landslide victory in last Saturday’s state election, capturing 72 seats out of 82 seats available.
