S'WAK POLLS Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem today said the Chinese community has a choice to make when they cast their votes on May 7 – whether they want to be in the government or in angry isolation.
"I don't cherish having no Chinese in the government. So the choice is whether they want to be in the government on Saturday or outside there in angry isolation.
"That's the choice they have to make. If they want (to be in the government), then they have to vote for Chinese members in my team," he told a press conference at Wisma Bapa in Kuching today.
He added that there were capable Chinese candidates who can become ministers in the Sarawak government such as SUPP president Sim Kui Hian and BN direct candidate Wong Soon Koh.
Adenan expressed confidence that BN will regain Chinese support but added the question was how much.
"Surely there will be some that will return to BN's fold, but I am unsure if it will be enough (for BN) to win in the Chinese-majority seats," he said.
However, Adenan noted this was possible in seats where DAP won by a small margin in the last state election.
Adenan also blasted DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang's message that the opposition is only out to reduce BN's majority and not to take over the state.
"Don't fall for his ploy... I wasn't born yesterday," he said.
He pointed out that the number of seats contested collectively by DAP and PKR were enough to form the government if they won in all of them.
Adenan said if the opposition was sincere about only reducing BN's majority, then it would not need to contest in so many seats.
