Guan Eng on S’wak immigration watchlist

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been informed that he is on the Sarawak Immigration watchlist and though he is allowed to enter the state tonight, he can be asked to leave at any time.

According to a video posted on the party's Facebook page, he was informed of this when he landed at Bintulu Airport earlier tonight and was whisked away to the immigration office when presenting his identification for entry into the state.

"This was the first time I was asked to go to the immigration room when I presented my IC to be allowed to enter Sarawak. Never before this.

"They told me I was not allowed (ie on the watch list) but they require confirmation.

"I was later told that for now there is no problem, but I was also told that after they reported that I was allowed in, they can - at any time - ask me to leave the state but that will be handled by police," said Lim in the two-minute and 22-second footage.

Lim also accused Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem of being more blatant in his alleged abuse of the state's immigration powers to bar the opposition from coming to take part in the state election campaigning.

"I think that this is a sign that Sarawak CM will be more stern in misusing immigration powers to stop opposition leaders, no matter who they are, from entering the state," he alleged, adding that he does not know the reason for state excos and speakers to be given the boot.

Previously Lim has managed to enter Sarawak though other opposition leaders from DAP, PKR, and Amanah has been barred from entering the state by the Sarawak chief minister.
