Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) president Larry Sng has quit as party chief and withdrawn from the electoral race for the state seat of Bukit Goram, because he felt he could not truly serve the constituents without being in BN.
"The truth of the matter was the realization that this election was shaping up to be the most expensive election. I believe I could have won, but even if I did, I wouldn't be able to service the people the way they remembered me. Only through BN could I have done so," said Sng in an emotional post on his Facebook page tonight.
"The decision not to contest was a very painful one. So painful in fact that I lost four kilograms in five days. I could not eat nor sleep and was stressed out. I couldn't concentrate and yet I put on a brave face when I am with the public to assure them that I am standing.
"That was the realisation. My heart and my mind was at odds with one another. I wanted to stand but if I truly loved the people, I knew what needs to be done. I needed to resign and point them in the right direction," Sng said.
