Some of the 10,000 spectators at Stadium Malawati today booed prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor as she presented the prizes at the Malaysian Open in Stadium Malawati today.

Rosmah, who is also Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) patron, witnessed Malaysian top player Lee Chong Wei defeat world number one shuttler Chen Long to wrest the Malaysian Open title.

The booing started when Rosmah’s name was announced for the prize-giving ceremony.

However, the booing was quickly drowned out by the applause for Lee and Chen during the prize-giving ceremony.

Rosmah appeared unaffected by it, and went up to the stage while clapping.

The brief incident was caught on video by viewe, Jay Jay Dennis, and is now circulating on the internet.

Jay Jay, who caught the incident through live television, is aide to DAP's Klang MP Charles Santiago.

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was booed at the Malaysian Open earlier as her name was announced as the guest of honour to present prizes to Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long.

Rosmah recently came under fire after The Wall Street Journal reported that she had spent about US$130,000 at Chanel in Hawaii in December 2014.

The same credit card used to make the purchase was also used to purchase jewellery worth EUR750,000 in Sardinia, Italy.

The Wall Street Journal , citing Malaysian investigation papers, said PM Najib spent US$15 million on holidays, shopping and jewellery.

The Prime Minister's Office did not respond to requests for comments.

Rosmah and Najib were in Hawaii in December 2014, with Najib making headlines in the United States for golfing with US President Barack Obama.

The couple's son also posted pictures in Sardinia on Instagram, coinciding with the time the jewellery was reportedly purchased.

The couple had before that been to The Netherlands where Najib attended a press conference on the MH17 tragedy.
