PAS has announced their 11 candidates for the upcoming Sarawak election yesterday, reported the Islamic party’s mouthpiece Harakah Daily .

“Though he said the participation of PAS in the 11th state election as a missionary effort, (PAS president) Abdul Hadi Awang said that winning would be a bonus to the party,” reported Harakah .

The announcement was made by Abdul Hadi during an event in Kemena Hotel, Medan As Syakirin in Bintulu yesterday.

The candidates were described as having good potential of winning, and they were from various backgrounds including religious teachers, engineers, activists, PAS Supporters Congress representatives as well as a young woman in Beting Maro.

It also included the first non-Muslim candidate from the Islamic party to contest in Sarawak, that is Sarawak PAS Supporters Congress chief Clement Bayang.

The following are the PAS candidates along with the constituency they will be contesting:

1. Sarawak PAS commissioner Jofri Jaraiee (N74 Pujut)

2. Sarawak PAS Youth chief Mohammad Arifiriazul Paijo (N72 Lambir)

3. Sarawak PAS Youth vice-chief Zharudin Narudin (N70 Samalaju)

4. Sarawak PAS information chief Kiprawi Aman (N67 Jepak)

5. Sarawak PAS Supporters Congress chief Clement Bayang (N60 Kakus)

6. Sarawak PAS Women’s Wing secretary Hamidah Mokhtar (N29 Beting Maro)

7. Sebuyau PAS under Batang Lupar PAS activist Wan Abdillah Wan Ahmad (N27 Sebuyau)

8. Sarawak PAS deputy commissioner 3 Asan Singkro (N24 Sadong Jaya)

9. Sarawak PAS liaison treasurer and secretary Zulkipli Ramzi (N16 Muara Tuang)

10. Petrajaya PAS ulama affairs coordinator Yusof Assidiqqi Ahmad Sharkawi (N7 Samariang)

11. Santubong PAS elections director Zainal Abidin Yet (N4 Pantai Damai)

Last week, it was announced that the Sarawak state legislative assembly will be dissolved on April 11, paving the way for state-wide elections.
