Will gov’t arrest Dr M when he goes on Save M’sia roadshows?

YOURSAY | ‘If we can accept Anwar with a tainted past, why not Dr M?’

Some very bitter prescription for the Doctor

Ourvotesdecide: A very good, practical and pragmatic proposal by former president of Global Bersih William de Cruz (for Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step aside and let PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli spearhead the Save Malaysia campaign).

This will test Mahathir's sincerity and seriousness in saving Malaysia from going down the drain under Najib Abdul Razak.

Mahathir, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang, Muhyiddin Yassin, civil society groups and the rest can always provide support in the form of advice and guidance to the Save Malaysia movement.

This strategy will effectively help to get support for the movement to snowball among all Malaysians.

Goose: PKR vice-president Rafizi is too young and impulsive. He may be smart, but smartness should not be the only criteria in choosing a leader. Maturity, humility and goodwill for all are more important.

Why not rope in veteran politician Syed Husin Ali? I think his mind is still active and sharp.

Peacemaker: If Mahathir is leading anything, you can be sure it is ultimately for his own benefit. Mahathir has absolutely no interest in the well-being of Malaysia.

His track record when he was prime minister speaks loudly of his avowed intentions. Mahathir only works for himself and his own objectives.

Mindspeaks: If we can accept Anwar with a tainted past (don't forget that he was a major part of Dr M's government) as the opposition leader, why not Dr M? He can bring in the rural Malay votes that are badly needed by the opposition.

He might have his own agenda but in the end, the opposition will benefit greatly from this if everyone can see the need to change the current government.

SSG: There is a well-known saying in the English language: "Like father, like son". Having followed Mahathir’s life, I can say he has truly lived up to this saying repeatedly, time and again, just like he is doing now to his ‘beloved’ party.

So, to all those who sign up for the Save Malaysia campaign, I have only this to say, please be careful who you choose to be your leader.

Nehru: Now those who stand by Mahathir are the righteous, some of whom Mahathir imprisoned in the past, who are willing to work together to save the country from plunderers he created.

Getting Rafizi to lead the Save Malaysia movement is not practical as he will be arrested at the coming roadshows and rallies.

There is only one man that Umno can’t easily arrest and that is Mahathir, so he should lead. The rural Umno members will split if Mahathir gets arrested.

For those who doubt this Citizens’ Declaration, it is better for them to think again as Lim Kit Siang, Guan Eng, Anwar, etc, who had suffered from the actions of their then-tormentor Mahathir, are willing to put aside personal feelings to save the country.

Prudent: I would say, let Mahathir continue as the leader of the Save Malaysia campaign. As far as even the kampong Malays are concerned, he is the only one with enough stature for them to listen to.

Thus he is the only one who can split Umno rural Malay vote-bank in favour of the opposition. That is the reality.

Anticonmen: After systematically destroying the patient for over 30 years, now you want to give a prescription to cure the illness, doctor?

'Security factor among reasons Mkini not given access to PM'

RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Minister in the PM’s Department Azalina Othman Said, first you boasted that Najib did not take a single sen from companies when he has more than enough to sustain his super luxurious lifestyle for 100 years from ‘donations’.

You are again being ridiculous for saying that Malaysiakini reporters are a security risk covering events where Najib is present. How is it so? They are not armed with bazookas or machineguns, but pens and laptops.

Najib is more fearful of being asked questions on the RM2.6 billion and Altantuya Shaariibuu by Malaysiakini reporters.

Fair Play: Congratulations, Malaysiakini . You have finally won the most coveted prize. You are now considered a security risk to Najib’s security because of the power of your weapon - discharging news that no other media dare touch, much less publish.

Gunnerrun: Azalina, under normal circumstances, your boss is the least promising of material for the media.

Other than the endless scandals and his inability to contain them and the seemingly nonsensical ways of adding and re-editing statements that seem to make explanations more ludicrous and unbelievable time after time, there's actually nothing the media would be interested in. Be thankful for the 15 minutes you are getting.

Beep!: If the truth is a threat then, yes, it's easy to see why only BN/Najib-friendly reporters are let into the Prime Minister’s Office.
