Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has reiterated his confidence that Malaysia's economy can weather the global challenges and will ensure it stays strong, stable and on track.
He said Malaysia posted a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of five percent in 2015, despite the challenging and uncertain economic scenario.
In his latest posting on his blog, NajibRazak.com today, Najib said the economic success last year had placed the country among the best in the Asean region.
"However, we should not take things easy, but work instead on proactive measures to ensure the interest and well-being of the people is not neglected in the context of the nation's development," he added.
On Thursday, the Statistics Department, in a statement, announced that Malaysia's full year GDP was 5.0 percent compared to 6.0 percent in 2014.
