The lift service at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru, which was reported to be faulty, is now functioning well, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
He said the faulty lift system at Block C and D of the hospital had been replaced in stages since last year.
"A new lift was installed each in Block C and D and these have been operational since Jan 28.
"The two old units are currently being replaced and are due for completion by the end of April," he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Noor Hisham said this yesterday, in response to a Malaysiakini Special Report on Wednesday that the lift system at Sultanah Aminah Hospital was not functioning properly, therefore causing much inconvenience to patients and visitors.
"Should the new lifts fail to operate due to improper operation or damage to the components, they will be repaired immediately by the contractor as they are still under warranty," he added.
